Happy National Running Day! Everyone should get a run in today, it makes you happy and it's good for the planet (ok, maybe not directly but if you ran somewhere instead of drove there then it would be).
Today was another 3 miles. I also wanted to do some strength training so these 3 were on the treadmill at the Y. This Y has got to be one of the first establishments built in this city because this baby is OLD! It recently and is still undergoing renovations but it still smells OLD! Yeah, kind of gross I know.
Total time on was 31 minutes.
The warm up & cool down, 1.5 minutes each, just about make up the .15 so my actual running was 3.0 miles in 28 minutes, about 9:20 average pace. This was good run :) I did a little speed work. Ran a few minutes at 7.0 mph (8:34 pace) and a few minutes, a few times at 6.8 mph (8:49 pace), which is pretty fast for me. Just call me speedy gonzalez!
The strength training plan is from my online friend Rachel Mac. I was first introduced to 'all that is Rachel Mac' on sparkpeople and now follow her on facebook. She is awesome, kind of love her. The routine can be found here, http://blog.questproteinbar.com/the-rachel-mac-workout/. I totally suck at strength training but this plan seems simple enough so I figured I'd give it a shot. Oh and if this means one day I too can look like Rachel Mac, sign me up! Today was my first day, I did back and biceps.
Here I am post strength and running. Yes, this is a gym self-portrait.
Adventures in homelessness (AinH) continues although we do meet with our realtor tomorrow so hopefully soon I will have happy news to share with you! On a side note of AinH, looks like I may be obese at the end of these four months. My MIL is an awesome baker, if not the best. Fresh, home-made desserts/snacks are readily available and since I have zero discipline I eat said desserts. For instance, last night I had blueberry torte for dessert. Not good... but yet SO good! To make matters worse I walk in from work to dinners like this:
No worries my friends I stuck to 2 pieces and some fresh cantaloupe. Two pieces, only, is HUGE. I can eat half a pizza, by myself, in one sitting. I am ashamed.
Because I like to leave you with happy thoughts, now for your viewing pleasure...
